The Restaurant
During the course of each week, we organize evening meals for our guests at our restaurant, offering dishes prepared following traditional Tuscan recipes.
On request we can organise themed dinner parties.
The restaurant at Vignamaggio offers a menu based on fresh and seasonal produce, prepared in a traditional, home cooked style, without the use of pre cooked or frozen products.
The type of pasta used is produced biologically in Tuscany by the “Pastificio Morelli”
All dishes are cooked to order; please excuse us if this means you have to wait a little longer for your meal.
The fresh pasta, the tortelli and the ravioli are hand made by our cook.
Using organically grown salad leaves, aromatic herbs from our gardens, meat and salami from the “Antica Macelleria Falorni” selected from the best local farms, fish caught from the Mediterranean, and cheeses carefully selected from small dairies, we hope to help you enjoy your stay with us to the full, in a simple way through food that is in touch with tradition and with that which Nature has to offer.
Our cook Christina can also offer guests who are interested a practical cookery class, demonstrating typical Tuscan dishes. This can be followed by lunch, tasting the dishes you have prepared, accompanied by our wines.
The opening nights of our restaurant vary from week to week; information is available at reception. When possible we would be delighted to arrange evening meals upon request.
Some of the traditional dishes served at Vignamaggio:
“Ribollita”, a vegetable soup thickened with bread and beans, and “Peposo alla fornicina”, a peppery beef and red wine stew.

Walking at Vignamaggio
The name Chianti conjures up images of vineyards and olive groves but it is also home to some very beautiful woodland which rarely gets the attention it deserves.
The track starts from the garden of the villa and continues through a shady alley (should read ‘valley’) surrounded by hedges and several cypresses, the typical trees of this area.
At the end of it one enters a wider road surrounded by a pine, cypress, turkey oak, holm-oak wood and by a heather, strawberry-tree, juniper, ferny underbrush and many other botanical species.
The road slopes softly, crossing other paths.
Eventually, the track ends in a shady spot overlooking a stream which about 200 metres downstream joins the Greve river.
Both joggers as well as those who simply want to admire the beauties of nature will appreciate the track.
Those who prefer the shade and cooler temperatures should walk early in the morning, while those who enjoy the sun can walk in the afternoon.

Children’s Play Area

For our younger guests, we have a green play area. Far away from the road and cars, this is a safe and tranquil area for children to play on the swings, seesaw and with other toys and games.
For very small children, we always have available cots, high chairs and a
baby sitting service.
